Modifications, Change and Implementation

PDF Section F of the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC) (119Kb) defines the requirements for developing, assessing and implementing proposals to amend the BSC arrangements. These requirements are broken down into two processes:

  • Amendments to the BSC; and
  • Amendments to the Code Subsidiary Documents (CSDs) and BSC Systems (including software systems and associated documentation).

Modification Process

The procedure for amending the BSC is the Modifications Process. This is set out in Section F and is managed by the BSC Panel and ELEXON.

In addition to the Modifications Process, changes to the BSC can be discussed, but not implemented, using the Issues Process. This enables BSC Parties to suggest topics for assessment without going through the formal Modification Proposal process. Issues can be raised, assessed and closed at any time.

For information on submitting a Modification or an Issue, please visit our Raise a Change page.

Change Process

The procedure for amending the CSDs and BSC Systems is the Change Process. Details of this process are in PDF BSCP40 (179Kb) .

For information on submitting Changes please visit our Raise a Change page.

Implementation

Once a Modification Proposal or Change Proposal is approved, it is implemented as part of a series of planned releases. “BSC Systems Releases” occur three times a year in February, June and November as described on the Implementation page. Releases may include changes to CVA and SVA software, associated documentation and processes.

For information on the implementation process, the Release Strategy and release documentation, visit our Releases page.
