We are recruiting interested parties to join our Data and Reporting User Group. The User Group is being formed to allow our customers and stakeholders the opportunity to help shape the design of the Elexon Kinnect Insights Solution, which is one of the three elements that make up our new digital platform, Elexon Kinnect.
Your opportunity to influence the design of the solution
Our vision is to build on and enhance our current data capabilities provided via our Balancing Mechanism Reporting Service (BMRS) and become the ‘go to’ data platform for the GB energy industry.
Joining the User Group will give you the exciting opportunity to influence our future data and reporting service at an early stage. You will be able to give us your views regarding the current BMRS platform and tell us what changes and improvements you would like to see. As the Insights Solution development progresses, you’ll have the chance to become familiar with the new platform before it is launched.

Background to the project objectives
Our Balancing Mechanism Reporting Service (BMRS) serves to provide industry parties with operational data relating to the GB Electricity Balancing and Settlement arrangements. BMRS is used extensively by market participants to help make trading decisions and understanding market dynamics, acting as a prompt reporting platform as well as a means of accessing historic data.

Elexon Kinnect is a digital customer-centric platform delivering a smart and flexible central solution for the industry. Kinnect will be rolled out through a number of Balancing and Settlement Code releases (changes to the code rules) over the next few years. The modular technology it uses will enable us to implement BSC rule changes more quickly, and provide speedier support for innovation by existing companies and new entrants.
The platform consists of three elements:
- Customer Solution – providing an intuitive customer experience
- Settlement Solution – performing scalable, flexible and modular Settlement operations
- Insights Solution – to receive, process and publish data
